Born and raised amidst the inspiring landscapes of Colorado, my journey has been anything but a straight line. The call to collegiate sports led me to Texas, a place whose vibrant energy and spirit I’ve since come to call home. After graduating and hanging up my cleats, I settled in Houston, ready to carve out a new path. Art has always been in my blood. Growing up in a family of artists, creativity was the air I breathed. For me, a pivotal piece of this heritage is just before I was born my father designed an eclectic bird for me. He called it the "Sheabyrd," a unique symbol of my identity. For years, I held onto the desire to continue my family's artistic legacy, yet my own gifts didn't lie in painting or sculpture. My canvas, I would discover, was something different entirely. The true turning point came with the heartbreaking loss of a dear friend. In the midst of grief, an idea sparked—a way to keep his memory alive, to create a tangible piece of his spirit that his loved ones could carry with them forever. I decided to design a hat in his honor. This act of love and remembrance unlocked my true passion: visual arts expressed through designing apparel. What began as a single, heartfelt tribute ignited my imagination. I saw the power of a hat to tell a story, to connect people, and to build a community. It was then that my hat company was born—a fusion of my artistic roots, the cherished "Sheabyrd" from my childhood, and a deep-seated desire to create meaningful connections. Each hat is more than just an accessory; it's a piece of a story, a symbol of remembrance, and a continuation of a family legacy in a way I never could have imagined.
